Swimwear Suicide

06:39

One aspect of holiday shopping that can be a total nightmare all boils down to a very specific section of your wardrobe – swimwear. This is an area of fashion where it can all go horribly wrong very, very easily, from the daunting bandeau bikini that seems to give me the torso of a 12 year old boy to ill fitting bikini tops that you occasionally fall out of – giving the Spanish couple on the sunbeds opposite quite a shocking start to their day. And don’t even get me started on bikini bottoms. If you thought bikini tops were hard work with their variable padding options and multi way strap functions, pants are a whole different ball game. You have to achieve a perfect balance, right in the middle of the overtly confident cougar lookalike strutting around poolside in a thong and the odd couple who wear matching wetsuits – both of which are not really what we’re going for. My opinion on the subject? Size Matters. Although you may not initially like buying bikini bottoms in a size 10 instead of your usual size 8, you’ll be thanking me when you’re strolling along the beach without showing the world what you had for breakfast or it looking like your bottom is trying to escape from your swimwear. Again, not what we’re going for. Tie side bikini bottoms are flattering on most body shapes, and you can adjust them to make sure the fit is perfect and not digging in, creating unnecessary lumps and bumps. However, this holiday season I have fallen head over heels for high waisted bikinis, which give good tummy coverage whilst flaunting a skinny waist, creating a sexy retro look that is perfect for poolside glam. Whatever style you favour this summer just remember, sizing can make all the difference.
