Summer Stripes

As I explained a few posts ago, I went home last week and decided to make the most of this by spending some quality time with my sewing machine. This is the first of a few projects I completed, and probably my favourite! Inspired by the gorgeous candy striped Topshop shorts from my summer essentials series, I decided to make my own little stripy summer skirt - perfect for my holiday wardrobe! I also made the little bow belt to go with it, which is completely detachable due to a simple button fastening. I wanted this freedom so I also have the option to wear the skirt with a wide range of belts or simply on its own, depending on what Im pairing it with. Overall I am really pleased with how well it turned out, and already have plans to make a few more in different patterns before we go away - much cheaper and way more rewarding than simply buying them!
